When I first met Mayor Bill Peduto it was at a fundraiser for HAS at Maggie’s Farm. I didn’t know what to expect in terms of personality. What I found out quickly, was just how personable, and honestly down right nice he was. He chatted with everyone, eager to talk about any subject. So I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask him if he possibly wanted to do a podcast with me. Shoot for the stars, right? I honestly assumed he would say no anyways, so me (in my terribly dorky way) walked up to him and just blerted it out. “So, Mr Mayor, I have a podcast in town, and I am not into politics really, I like getting to know people. I thought it would be cool if I could do one with you, and talk about you as a citizen of Pittsburgh, not just it’s Mayor. Just a sit down conversation to get to know the real person behind the Mayor” He turned to me, and said “That would be fantastic, let’s set it up!” I was baffled and really excited, but didn’t get my hopes up. Sometimes things don’t work out, and he is a busy man in town. But, true to his word the processing went through and the complex scheduling. The Mayor kept his word, to me and my little ole podcast.
We didn’t have a lot of time, in fact I was scheduled a time slot, because he has a crazy schedule. But I am so thankful that I got the opportunity to ask him some questions, that I feel others may not have asked. It is important for me, and I think others to know the people who are a major part of this city. What their interests are, what they love about the city, and what makes them tick. Personality and character make a difference. Like someone with a ridiculously busy schedule keeping his promise to an hopeful gal, who had the nerve to ask for a chunk of his time. Thanks again Mr Mayor, I hope to chat again soon!
A big thank you to Matthew Pierce for snapping some photos!!!!
