On a Thursday around 9pm, Phil and I were invited out to Trundle Manor in Swissvale, PA. We didn’t know what to expect. I love Halloween, and I figured with it right around the bend, why not do a podcast with the owners of this oddities place. Mr Arm, Velda Von Minx, and Little Devil (their massive cat) accepted us into their house, and were lovely to have a chat with about why they started this collection in their own home. Part Museum, part gallery, part taxidermy haven, Trundle Manor is one of the most interesting places that I had no clue was in Pittsburgh, PA. These two pride themselves at having genuine collectables, nothing fake. The medical equipment, jarred specimens, and taxidermy (some they have done themselves) is all real. I couldn’t believe the creations they have made themselves, not just taxidermy, but inventions. The house is complete with hidden secret passage ways, and so many different things that are beautiful to look at. They have been featured on MTV Cribs, and host a wicked Halloween party every year. Check out their website HERE for any upcoming events, or to book a tour.
Trundle Manor offers tours by appointment only, and accept donations of any kind. So if you are looking for a night out, that isn’t your standard run of the mill experience, look no further. I asked about 9 of my friends whom I thought would enjoy this place, and none of them had heard about it. It make me very excited to think that a place like this is in Pittsburgh! I could have spent hours investigating all the different things they had within their house, I guess I will just have to go back again!
Special shout out to Foo Conner for making introductions, you sure know my taste, and I also love the collectable 3D cards you guys have made!
